Company Profile
Martin Mills is in the animal nutrition business. Our present
position has evolved from providing feeds that met general agricultural needs
in our earlier days, through to a high level of involvement in the poultry
industry. This was followed by active participation in both pet foods and fish
food. Martin Mills involvement in animal food products is only one component of
a multi-faceted company that include a variety of real estate and other
investments.
Feed production
reaches back to 1923 when the great grandfather of the current owners, Absolam
Martin, purchased a chopping mill and began to grind grains for local farmers.
Fish food production began in
1972 when an informal relationship developed between Martin and the Ontario
Ministry of Natural Resources, aimed at meeting the feeding needs of the
provincial hatchery system. At the same time, a growing commercial trout
industry in Central Canada saw our products evolve and become what they are
today - high performance feeds which exhibit exceptional quality and
value.

Martin
Mills offers scientifically formulated diets for small animals, featuring diets
for rabbits and guinea pigs. Martin Mills also offers a full range of extruded
horse feeds for all stages of development.
The Martin philosophy, that has now spanned four generations, is
characterized by a genuine belief that the future holds promise and that
ongoing innovations to pursue new opportunities are both a goal worth seeking
and have the capacity to improve the lives of the people that work at Martin
Mills and the customers whom they serve.
Our line of aquaculture feeds includes Starter granules, 1.5 &
2.0mm Transition Diets and 2.5-9.0mm, extruded Sinking, Floating and
Slow-sinking High-energy diets for use primarily with salmonids such as trout
and char and cichlids such as tilapia. A specialty Koi and Goldfish food is
also available for pond owners and aquaria. However we are not limited in
scope. Individual rations can be formulated to meet specific needs. We believe
that flexibility is key in an environment of change. The aquaculture industry
is one such environment.

Our proximity to
the University of Guelph and Alma Research Station are valued assets in the
continuing development of new feeds and techniques aimed at decreasing nutrient
downloading on the environment, while at the same time increasing farm feed
efficiencies.
The
Martin brothers
Currently
underway are manufacturing trials directed towards reducing the carbohydrate
fraction of our most nutrient dense feed. Instrumental in this process are our
customers who provide valuable feedback and in doing so play a vital role in
their research, development and application.
Yearly workshops organized by Martin Mills assist our
clients in managing their operations more effectively. “Providing creative
solutions” to customer challenges strengthens our partnership with each
other. Product delivery and movement, packaging, diet customization, and
performance tracking are all within the capabilities of our experienced and
trained staff.
